The extended facility will feature additional parking and all departments will be enlarged. A new Meeting Room will accommodate 150 people and will overlook a new landscaped reading garden and courtyard as will other major areas in the building. The Children’s Library and the Young Adults will be on the second floor that will have access from the existing stair tower and elevator plus a new elevator and new stair towers designed to match the well-liked original staircase.
Externally the building has been designed to be fully compatible with the original architecture but with the added features of two story windows to maximize natural light. The building will qualify for LEEDS silver certifications
